Stephen
joined Ockenden Manor in 2001, one of three stunning hotel properties in West
Sussex owned by Historic Sussex Hotels – Bailiffscourt Hotel & Spa in
Climping and The Spread Eagle in Midhurst.
Stephen,
Sussex born himself and now living in Balcombe , the adjacent village to
Cuckfield, first became interested in cooking at school when he
realised he wasn’t any good at football! His interest grew and he became an
apprentice at a hotel near Gatwick Airport before joining London’s Halcyon
Hotel in 1993 where he met Martin Hadden, executive chef of the Historic Sussex
Hotel Group. Stephen followed Martin to Historic Sussex Hotels, first to the
Spread Eagle and then to Ockenden Manor.
